UPDATED MAY 2024. Mickey’s Toontown debuted a new attraction on January 27, 2023 as part of the kick off to Disney100 Years of Wonder. The re-imagined land is now open as of March 19, 2023.

But that’s only part of the news we have to share! Luckily, we’ve put together a guide detailing everything to know about Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland.

Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland

The Walt Disney Company is known for telling amazing stories. And as the story goes, Mickey Mouse first set up his home in Toontown after he was introduced to the public on November 18, 1928 with his successful Steamboat Willie short film.

Mickey suggested Walt build Disneyland Park next to his town with one condition; Toontown had to be protected and kept secret.

Years later, after Disneyland had proven to be a success, Mickey and his friends made a landmark decision—the decision was to open their doors to non-toon guests, officially opening Toontown to the public in 1993.

Ever since then we can’t get enough of living out our very own Disney cartoon story while visiting Mickey's Toontown. This adorably quirky land at Disneyland Park allows visitors to explore the homes of Mickey, Minnie and other playful cartoon areas.

When you visit Mickey’s Toontown you can experience attractions, quick service dining and interactive experiences around every turn. Keep reading for everything to know about Mickey's Toontown before your first visit, or first visit in a while.

Everything To Know About Mickey's Toontown: Rides

To arrive at Mickey’s Toontown, take a stroll down Main Street, U.S.A., through Fantasyland and then under the train tracks of the Disneyland Railroad. There is also a Disney Railroad stop at Mickey’s Toontown, making it easy to get to no matter where you are coming from around Disneyland Park.

Now let’s talk about the rides!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Based on the award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the first ride at Disneyland Park that stars Mickey Mouse and friends.

The darling duo, Mickey and Minnie, are taking a leisurely drive to a picnic in their sporty roadster—with Engineer Goofy’s train following merrily along. Plot twist—you get to go, too! Climb aboard a runaway railway and embark on a whirlwind ride through a world where the rules of physics don’t apply. Prepare for unexpected twists, slapstick gags and mind-boggling transformations at every turn, as Mickey and Minnie try to save the day.

This ride has no height requirement and is perfect for the entire family! Here is our detailed guide on how to ride this new and exciting attraction

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin

The attraction revisits the story of Roger Rabbit as he attempts to rescue his beloved wife, Jessica Rabbit, from the evil henchmen known as the Weasels.

Catch a ride in a taxi and follow Roger Rabbit and Benny the Cab as they race through Toontown in search of Jessica Rabbit. Beware—the villainous Weasels are pouring slippery Toon-melting Dip in the paths of passing vehicles—including yours!

Like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin has no height requirement, so the whole family can enjoy this attraction together.

Mickey’s Toontown Secret: Roger Rabbit’s Easter Eggs fill this crazy ride and queue! About halfway through the line, a large metal door makes up part of the wall—knock on it and a gorilla will appear to share a secret with you. Or, knock on another door and Jessica Rabbit herself will sing to you. Aptly named characters are also prominent in the ride and our favorite has to be “Bullina’s China Shop.” While you’re driving your taxi cab through, be careful to avoid all the china! Lastly, make sure to watch the walls for all kinds of references to Disney’s cartoon animation past. Find more Disneyland Easter Eggs and secrets here.

Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETCoaster

Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETCoaster is inspired by the Disney animated series Chip ‘n' Dale Rescue Rangers, where Chip, Dale and a team of crime fighters help solve mysteries.

Climb aboard a train made of acorns and get ready for a wild ride! Race around the winding track Gadget Hackwrench crafted using oversized “found objects.” Enjoy panoramic views of Mickey’s Toontown on a whirlwind trip.

This attraction has a 35” height requirement and is many children’s first coaster experience. If you have children under 35”, you can use the Child Swap option

Plenty of free play space for kids of all ages and abilities is exactly what you’ll find in Mickey’s Toontown. Some of our favorite places are listed here.

CenTOONial Park

This new area is the first space you will see when you enter Mickey’s Toontown, anchored by two interactive play experiences. At the center of CenTOONial Park is a fountain, designed for play with water tables and more places to splash. At night, the fountain is brought to life in a unique spectacle.

Dreaming Tree

Inspired by the tree a young Walt Disney would daydream under in his hometown, you’ll find this oversized play tree near the entrance to Mickey’s Toontown. The sculpted tree roots provide an opportunity for children to play, crawl and explore, and sit and dream.

Mickey’s Toontown Secret: Where’s Walt’s Window? If you’ve ever wondered where Walt’s window was when strolling down Main Street, US.A., you’re not alone! Walt’s window was instead added to Toontown’s Main Street. Look close for the window that reads: “Laugh O’ Gram Films: W.E. Disney, Directing Animator.” After that window was added to Toontown, many more were added in homage to the Disney brothers throughout the different Disney Parks.

Donald's Boat

Check out Donald’s favorite photos, his seaworthy rain gear and where he sleeps below deck. Then, climb a spiral staircase to a higher landing and spin the Captain’s Wheel, ring the boat bell and pull the ship’s whistle to trigger water spouts on deck.

This area also has a new splash pad feature for hot summer days! Get ready to cool down and splash.

Mickey’s Toontown Secret: Toontown’s citizens think vanity license plates are all the rage. Look closely for references to Disney’s past, including “BB Wolf”, “Anim8ed”, “MR TOAD”, “1DRLAND” and many more. Plus, these cartoon-like cars are a great place for a quick photo.
