When thinking of San Diego, you may immediately think of the beach and SeaWorld, but here at Get Away Today, we don’t just know, we go! Each of our staff members have been there several times and have some fun information about where to go and what to do! Here, I will tell you where to find the best restaurants and shops, and experience some exciting adventures in my favorite city in California!
Old Town San Diego is a must-visit spot. Here you will find will great places to shop, dine and explore all the historic sites. Old Town has over thirty full service restaurants to fulfill any of your hunger cravings. Throughout the year Old Town offers several special events; including the Old Town Art Festival taking place in October. You will be able to enjoy museum quality art and sculptures as you stroll through the town. On certain Saturdays they also offer special shows under the stars in the outdoor garden courtyard. If you haven’t had a chance to explore Old Town yet, make sure it is on the top of your to do list for your next San Diego vacation!
You are also going to want to make your way to Balboa Park. This Spanish Colonial themed park includes over 15 museums, free park tours, public organ concerts and several spectacular gardens. Here you have the opportunity to stargaze outside the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center on the first Wednesday of every month! The San Diego Astronomy Association sets up very large telescopes and allows guests a great view of all the stars in the sky!
If you are looking for shopping, enjoy the 16 1/2 – block Gaslamp Quarter or Seaport Village in Downtown San Diego. Both offer wonderful restaurants, fabulous shopping, art galleries and hours of free entertainment. Seaport Village is right on the marina so you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the ocean!
Across a large, well-known, two mile bridge from downtown San Diego you will find Coronado Island, a relaxed Southern California beach town, with endless sunshine, world-class resorts, and incredible beaches. The sparkling sand beaches, gentle surf and small-town quaintness is the reason this island has been known as “The Crown City”. Coronado is actually Spanish for “the crowned one”.
For just a few more options to make your San Diego vacation the best one yet, take a trip to La Jolla Cove and explore the gorgeous sunset on the ocean. La Jolla Cove is one of the most remarkable natural locations in the world. Belmont Park is San Diego’s beachfront amusement park and entertainment center. Located on Mission Beach, you can enjoy amusement park rides, ride the wave machines, play laser tag and so much more!
