Grizzly Peak

Get ready for the wild outdoors in Grizzly Peak, a land that salutes the natural beauty of California and beyond. Check out this overview of the adventure and exploration that can be found at Grizzly Peak in Disney California Adventure® Park:

Grizzly Peak Attractions:

Grizzly River Run
Climb aboard a large, circular raft as you journey through this wild, white water ride. You're probably going to get wet year-round, but you're most likely going to get soaked from head to toe if you ride on a hot day when the water is turned up! If you’re visiting on a hot day, you’ll definitely want to get a FastPass, otherwise the line gets long. If you’re visiting when it’s cold, you can pretty much walk on at any time. Just wear a poncho - and maybe save your ride for the end of the day before heading back to your hotel for the night.

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
If Mom and Dad are looking for a place to relax, the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is your place. Kids can climb, swing and explore while adults rest in the shade. There are tire swings, zip lines, twisty slides and tunnels to crawl through. Sometimes you can even find Chip and Dale running around. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is located on the far side of the park next to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. Because it is so tucked away, it feels completely separate from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the park.

Soarin' Around The World
Soarin' Around the World will take you on an adventure across the globe. You’ll soar over some of the world’s most famous landmarks from Mount Kilimanjaro to the Taj Mahal to the Eiffel Tower and beyond with a grand finale ending in Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland® Park. Feel the rush of flying while enjoying breathtaking views. You’ll feel completely immersed in the sights, sounds and even scents of the featured scenes.

Note: Soarin’ Around the World was previously Soarin’ Over California. The earlier attraction has been known to make the occasional comeback. During summer 2019, Soarin’ Over California temporarily replaced Soarin’ Around the World.

Grizzly Peak Entertainment:

Character Meet & Greets
You can often find classic characters like Pluto in Grizzly Peak near a small prop plane. It’s the perfect backdrop for photos. You can also find Chip and Dale inside the Redwood Creek Challenge at select times during the day. Check the Disneyland® app for appearance times.

Grizzly Peak Dining:

Churros near Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
After hiking through Grizzly Peak, your stomach will be growling for a churro. Lucky for you, the Churros near Redwood Creek Challenge Trail have just what you’re looking for. You can normally choose between classic churros or a specialty flavor, like maple bacon or s’mores, depending on the season.

Popcorn at Grizzly Peak Airfield
That perfect, buttery Disneyland® popcorn can be found in the Grizzly Peak Airfield. This popcorn stand also regularly sells limited time collectible popcorn buckets.

Smokejumpers Grill
If you’ve worked up an appetite, you’ll want to make your way to the Smokejumpers Grill where you’ll find hearty burgers, sandwiches and salads. One thing that’s fun about the Smokejumpers Grill is that you put your own toppings on your burger/sandwich to really make it your own. Want extra pickles? No problem. Make your own sauce concoctions and add as many or as few toppings as you’d like.

You won’t find it on the map, but right across from Smokejumpers Grill is a drink station with a set of FreeForm soda machines. It’s separate from the restaurant and sells drinks only. It rarely has a line and is the perfect way to keep cool on a warm day.

Grizzly Peak Shopping:

Humphrey's Service and Supplies
You can get all of your outdoor gear at Humphrey’s Service and Supplies, a souvenir shop that looks and feels as if it’s straight from a 1950’s road stop.

Rushin' River Outfitters
Don’t worry if you’ve left your poncho at home; you can grab one from the Rushin’ River Outfitters before heading out on the Grizzly River Run. You can also find woodsy souvenirs, umbrellas and more.

Grizzly Peak Seasonal Celebrations

Come Halloween Time, Grizzly Peak will become haunted at nightfall on select evenings as part of the Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will become enchanted with spooky shadows, lights, colors and sounds. The Oogie Boogie Bash is a private, separately-ticketed event that is only available on select nights throughout Halloween Time.

Grizzly Peak comes alive during Holidays at the Disneyland® Resort. Not only is this area of the park decked out with cozy holiday trimmings, there is also a magical snowfall right outside the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. Santa Claus makes his holiday home here through Christmas, after which time Goofy Santa takes over greeting guests.

Grizzly Peak Tips

If you’re staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, the hotel’s private entrance to the park will put you in the heart of Grizzly Peak. In the morning, this park entrance is available for hotel guests with a valid room key only. However, if you are already inside Disney California Adventure® Park and would like to visit any of the restaurants or lobby of the Grand, you can use this entrance at any time to access them.

It’s always a good idea to get to Disney California Adventure® Park early, but it’s an even better idea to get to Grizzly Peak early because Soarin’ is a great first ride of the day. If you get there early enough, you can often walk on the attraction without a wait. And although not official, Soarin’ has been known to start running a few minutes before park opening. Better yet, if you’ve purchased MaxPass, you can make a FastPass reservation for another attraction from your phone before you’ve even ridden Soarin’.

If you’re traveling with little kids, be sure to plan some time at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. It is the perfect place for kids to get out their wiggles. While there, make sure to explore the “Spirit Cave,” themed after Brother Bear, to find out which spirit animal represents you.

The theming of Grizzly Peak is spot on to what you find in National Parks across the country. You’ll find plaques explaining origins, legends and fun details about attractions and other areas of the land. Take some time to wander and see how many of them you can find.
