Overall a great hotel!
All the hotel staff was great, and everyone we encountered there, The room was awesome also, (but you can hear toilets flush from other rooms)
Super close!
Closest hotel to the parks, great after a long day at the park.
Disney Magic!
Only downfall of this hotel is that you will never want to stay anywhere else! The Disney magic is strong at this place - everything from the lobby to the restaurants to the pools is relaxing and magical. Can't wait to go back.
Loved our stay and early entry!
This hotel is fantastic! Cheerful, incredible service. So clean. Great housekeeping service. Drinks brought to you by the fabulous pool. Beautiful. And, most importantly, early entry to the parks - jackpot - and the close proximity to the parks, which helps my aching feet and is just SO convenient! (If you’re planning to use early entry take note that it’s only one park per day, so make your park reservations accordingly. And get down to the security line EARLY.) I do think the price is kind of unreasonable, though. I try not to think about it too carefully or it makes me a little ill. Haha. My only other wish is having more *Disney* obvious in the decor. It’s just a pretty hotel, not as themed as I would wish. Overall, we loved our stay.
A very magical stay!
There is much to be said about the Grand Cal. Yes, it is pricy, but is it a good value? Who’s to say? 🤷🏻♂️ It saved me a ton of walking, and changed the relationship I had with staying at the parks. I can’t say it was a bad thing, but I realize this kind of experience is not for everyone. This is for older Disney adults willing to splurge, allowing them to throw money at mobility issues while hosting family. It is not for younger smaller families crunching budgets. The service was over the top, the food was excellent, the amenities all excellent. Having spent a morning by the mariposa pool, realizing they pipe in the sounds of a country night full of crickets chirping in waves - it was a touch of pure magic, I am forever hooked on this place emotionally. Reminds me of summers of my youth spent up in the Drakes Bay Region of Marin County. I would come back in a heartbeat. Having stayed at all three hotels on property, this is easily my favorite place for a meditative respite against the madness of the world. It is for folks who come for the vibes, rather than simply hitting rides. The one issue I had was that every 30 minutes there was a mechanical shifting sound in my room much like the sound of a lock opening and closing. Kept me up at night. But I don’t hold it against the hotel. It is the kind of thing maintenance folks will have difficulty finding and fixing. Because of this it was less than perfect, but I would still come back.
Perfect room for our trip!
I opted for a premium view concierge club room as this was a milestone birthday gift. This was a perfect arrangement for our trip, allowing us to rest and relax as well as attend the Pride Night after dark event at Disneyland. Well worth the expense, and Get Away Today had an excellent reduced rate on this premium room.
Friendly Staff
The staff was incredibly helpful, attentive and friendly.
A Stay We Will Never Forget!
From the moment we pulled up every cast member was exceptional. This was a great experience for my wife and me. We had a nice pool view room that was comfortable and spacious. Early entry into the parks was simple and convenient. This is an experience we won't forget.
Wonderful Stay
its so wonderful (the only thing is, you can hear your next door neighbor , if they are loud and sometimes you can hear the toilet flushing).
Our New Favorite!
Let's get it out of the way, it is expensive, there is no changing that. But the amount of care and detail Disney puts into your stay at this hotel is worth the price. Not to mention the obvious, the convenience, which to us was worth the extra money. It rained nonstop on two of the days we visited Disneyland and having the hotel literally right next to and attached to both parks was a life saver. This was our first time staying at the Grand Californian and we won't stay anywhere else when visiting Disneyland.
So close to the parks!
The proximity to the parks was fabulous. With direct entry into California Adventure and Downtown Disney and Disneyland just steps away. Loved being so close as we only had two days and great to go back to hotel if needed.
Perferct Stay
Perfect
Beautiful Hotel!
Our room was beautiful. Everyone was super friendly, cheerful and helpful.
The Best Stay!
Best hotel I have ever stayed at. Clean, comfortable and so convenient being at the park. It’s beautiful and the staff are amazing.
So many reasons to stay here
So.. the reason I stay at this hotel (and I have a few times now) is the close proximity to the Disney Parks. You have your own private entrance in to California Adventure and another entrance to Downtown Disney which also leads to the front of Disneyland. The second reason I stay here is because of the extra 30 min you get in early to the parks before they open. That allows you to do 3 of the most popular rides without having to wait in line. The hotel itself is amazing. From the moment you arrive you have to give your name at the front gate to even access the grounds. The customers service is always exceptional and they will bend over backwards to make your stay better. They have 5 star dinning on site, a spa, 3 swimming pools, and Disney magic around every corner. The rooms themselves are nothing really exceptionally special (unless you are paying for one of the more expensive suites) The beds are Really comfortable, it’s clean, the shower with complimentary shampoos and lotions is also great, but it’s nothing to be wowed by. I find that I’m spending most of my time in the parks or downtown Disney and that I have very little time to experience the hotel amenities. This is a really expensive hotel, so if money is not a big deal and convenience is really important to you, then it’s worth it. If you are on a budget and don’t mind walking a mile or taking the public transportation to the parks, there are many more suitable options, but man.. let me tell you. When you are done for the night at Disneyland; it sure is great to not have to get in a car or walk home.. You just take a few steps, get in the elevator and fall asleep..zzzz
Worth the price
Although it is an expensive hotel, The Grand Californian is worth the price. It’s beautiful, convenient, with an amazing staff.
Surpassed all of my expectations!!
I’ve always wanted to stay at the Grand Californian, and it surpassed all of my expectations! Comfy bed, killer pool setup (and virgin pina coladas brought right to my lounge chair), character meal opportunities, everything so clean, the staff so nice and helpful, the lobby gorgeous, and, best of all, early entry to the parks, which are RIGHT THERE!! The convenience was life changing!!! I can never go back to a regular hotel again.
Loved our stay!
I would have given 5 star rating, we had a men’s Disneyland Hoodie and a separate bag taken from our hotel room. I place a lost and found report with the hotel, Disneyland and Downtown Disney and nothing was found. I sent pictures also of him wearing his Hoodie. It was old, but a favorite, he said he believes he sent it on the sofa bed. No biggy, we really our stay at DGH and will be returning in October for the Oogie Boogie Bash. ❤️ DGH and Disneyland.
So great!
It was a very comfortable and a pleasant stay….so quiet. I would have given a 5 star review had the house keeper would have not gone through my things. She/he threw away one of my bags with handle one day, I guess because it was empty. The next day a Disneyland sweatshirt came up missing. I reported it missing . I felt uneasy about our visit the rest of our vacation. I also ask a cast member to help me reserve a scooter because I have trouble seeing (half blind) and she gave me the name of their out source, but she refused to set up a reservation for us. The second night our light in the room went out. I called maintenance to have them fix it. They couldn’t do anything until we checked out. That was fine, we had some lighting from the room with the drapes open. We enjoyed the restaurants at the resort. Especially the Character Storytelling Cafe, it’s fantastic. It was worth every cent. I highly recommend it. GCH Craftsman Grill was also great! I order the fish and chips…so fresh…the best! Other than the few minor ticks…I was there to enjoy myself at Disneyland. Would I stay there again….yes! I didn’t let a sweatshirt spoil my vacation time. Thanks Disneyland Grand Hotel staff Register, great staff. They attended us quite nicely and Valet Service was on spot!
Clean Hotel
Very clean and cleaned daily.
The Best of the Best
Amazing Disney resort hotel! Can't beat the location and experience! Connected to the California Adventure park and so EASY to walk in and out of this theme park via our own Private Entrance! Also loved the on-site spa, amazing restaurants and shops, and fun themed pools/waterslides! I also loved being able to easily walk right into Downtown Disney in the evenings with even more fun shopping and dining options. Can't beat the Early Entrance we enjoyed for staying at an on-site Disney resort hotel. Walked right onto several rides during this time and was able to get my first Genie+ reservations made before all the crowds showed up for the day. BEST way to do Disneyland for sure!
Not worth the much higher price tag
The rooms are awfully small for the price you pay, the lobby is always pure chaos with people not even residing in the hotel just sitting and hanging out and making it impossible for occupants of the hotel to get through. I also thought for the price it was nuts that 2 of our 5 days our pool was jammed packed because Disneyland Hotel guests came there. Overall the price didn’t match the experience, other than the proximity to the parks. That was the biggest perk, but it’s not worth the much higher price tag.
Very clean and GRAND
The hotel is kept very clean and is Grand! The hotel staff are super friendly and knowledgable. Housekeeping does an amazing job!!
Great Stay
The only thing this hotel room was lacking was a microwave
Magical Retreat
From the moment we arrived every part of our stay exceeded our expectations. The hotel was a magical retreat and the location to the parks can’t be beat. We loved the dining options, the food was delicious with many healthy fresh options. We will never visit the parks again without staying here. My only recommendation is that given the circumstances with excessive rain during our stay that in the doorway entry to the room have a mat at the entrance. Both myself and my daughter took pretty bad falls given how slippery the entry flooring becomes with wet shoes and clothes. Luckily neither of us were injured just some minor bruising. Other than that we can’t wait to come back again. We’re thinking the Holiday Season may be our next visit!
Beautiful Hotel!
The hotel is beautiful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very convenient private entrances to California Adventure and Downtown Disney. We had great view of Downtown Disney from our 5th story room. The only negative thing about the hotel is that the walls and windows are very thin. You van hear everything from people in the halls to horns .constantly honking from the trams outside. Other than that, I'd highly recommend staying there.
Basic room but comfortable
Room was just a basic room with basic accommodations. The bed was very comfortable. We slept very well every night. I think the wow factor could be a lot more wow for the price we paid.
Great Property
We had the best time. We were really early to check in due to us going to the parks. They held our luggage and let us know when our room was ready. They upgraded us and it was magical! We got a room with a park view. It was amazing! The rooms were clean. Staff super friendly. Loved the decor. Food was fabulous. Loved the private entrance to DCA. It was so nice staying that close. It will be hard to stay anywhere else.
Overall Nice Experience
The Grand Californian is a perfect location to walk straight to Downtown Disney and both park entrances. Our particular experience was on the Club level (6th floor) of the hotel. If your budget allows, the lounge is a nice option for food and beverage. Restaurants on site are VERY expensive for breakfast. The Napa Rose and Storyteller's Cafe have morning buffets but are a minimum of $35 for children and $59 for adults (you pay for the character experiences apparently). The lounge has a slightly fancier continental breakfast setup. During the day, they provide light snacks, coffee, water, teas, sodas, juices and beer and wine options. There is afternoon tea and then warm and cold appetizers for happy hour. Dessert comes around 8pm. I cannot say enough about the staff (cast members). They truly made it memorable. They do a wonderful job of keeping the place clean and stocked. Overall, the food options could use some better rotating. The same platters were served multiple times. Atmosphere is nice but severely outdated. Furniture, carpets and design desperately need a refurb. It is nice to have a place to lounge outdoors but do not expect an amazing view of much. As far as the hotel is concerned, exact experience. Cast members are all amazing but the hotel is disappointing. Looks grandiose upon arrival but you quickly notice the wear and tear. The carpets need extreme cleaning and the furniture needs new varnish or to be replaced completely. Pool and hot tub areas became a nice reprieve in the afternoons since we have a toddler. I did mention to staff that the hot tub was inundated because the supposedly 82 degree pool water was freezing. They finally opened the second hot tub and other pool on the last day we were there. Overall, I give this hotel a 3.5 out of 5 stars. If it weren't for the amazing park access, I might spend that Club level rate at the new JW Marriott down the street!
Expensive but nice
As a middle class family, I don’t think the stay was worth $2000 for 3 nights. It was beautiful and so nice to be so close to the parks, but still outrageously priced. They also charged $35 a day to park across the street. $65 a day for valet parking. I would think that would be included in the $750 a night. The staff was great, and the property was beautiful. The experience was great, but I’ll never pay that much again unless I get like a 50% raise
The Grand was amazing
The Grand was amazing. First time staying on property and now we will always stay on property. The location was great with a little one and the hotel was so beautiful it was very relaxing for the adults. Rooms were very quiet and the time at the pools was wonderful!
Convenient and beautiful!
The convenience of staying here is great. This hotel is beautiful! The staff was very nice.
Could use some improvements
We were traveling with a special needs child and let the hotel know that. We were given a room that looking at the map was the farthest walk there could be. We also had a non working fridge that got replaced with another non working fridge. The third one worked. We lost park time due to this and the room being a long walk was challenging with our special needs child.
Not for kids
Is not for kids, old fashion decoration in the rooms. I was expecting a thematic room
Not worth the money
Not worth the money
Wonderful staff
Staff, staff, staff...besides the other usual stuff, it is the staff that makes 100% the difference. Every single employee from check in to check out, had the kindness, helpfulness and knowledge like a mid-westerner. We were expecting the typical LA/NY attitudes and pretentious service, but it was never present.
It will be difficult to stay anywhere else
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the cast members treated us like royalty. Although it is very expensive, it will be difficult to stay anywhere else after our family’s experience.
Nothing but compliments
The hotel is very nice and convenient. The Cast Members were very friendly and helpful. We only had an issue with not receiving the text that our room was ready. Had to inquire with the Front Desk at 5:45. Other than that, we have nothing but compliments.
Really wonderful hotel
We loved our stay here. We will be staying at this hotel from now on whenever we visit Disneyland. The hotel is amazing. The staff were all great. And the location can't be beat. Really wonderful hotel.
A little disappointed
The valet team that welcomed us, checked out luggage and parked our car were wonderful, but I was very disappointed with the reception staff when we were checking in to the hotel. None of them even acknowledge that we were standing in the lobby. Even if they were busy they could greeted us and said we will be with you In a moment, would have been better than being ignored. I went up to one of the men working that had glanced at me out of the corner of his eye, and ask him if he could help me and he said he was still getting logged in to his computer maybe someone else could help me. When I was able to get my room key I went all the way to the 4th floor met the bell boy with my luggage and my key wouldn't open the room. They had me try and open my room using the app on my phone and that didn't work so someone came up with a master key that didn't open our room so they had to move us to a different building that wasn't even in the area of the hotel we wanted. The next day I told them I wanted to be in the area of the hotel that I reserved and paid for. They were able to get us into the woodland area that I wanted but I'm disappointed about all the moving around I had to do.
Neat & clean
Our room was so neat & clean.Craftsman Grill food are really good.I wish kids weren’t allowed in jacuzzi.
We won’t ever stay anywhere else :)
Not only was the proximity to the parks worth the stay here, but the warm feeling you got every time you entered this hotel wasso comforting and cozy. Fireplace roaring, piano playing, cocktails and hot chocolate!!! We won’t ever stay anywhere else :)
Definitely recommend it
Staying on property was nice, but it also makes it difficult for finding reasonable food options and such-especcially for breakfast. If you don't want to spend $70/person on a character breakfast or you can't get a reservation, you have slim pickings for a decent breakfast. If I had young kids and planned on more than 1 break/day, I would definitely recommend it.
Wonderful hotel
Wonderful room, comfortable beds and extremely clean. Loved all the individual touches, like when you turned on the TV our name welcomed on the screen. Also when I called the guest services desk they always welcomed our party with our last name. All of the staff was kind and happy. The hotel was beautiful, and although crowded, I always felt that my requests were important.
Once you go Grand you can never go back!
Once you go Grand you can never go back. I know it’s spendy, but it is so worth it. Especially at the end of the night when everyone is exhausted, you’re literally right there at your hotel!
Everything we hoped for!
So beautiful! It was everything we hoped for. We may never be able to stay off property again! Rooms that open to the lobby balconies seem noisy. May want to ask for a room further down the hall if you're worried about noise. We had a parking lot view and honestly it was still a cool view of the other hotels.
Beautiful hotel - highly recommend
Beautiful hotel with easy access to Disneyland and California Adventure. All the staff were helpful and cheerful. Highly recommend
Such a great choice for our trip!
Disney's Grand California Hotel was really a great choice for us on this trip. We had quick access to the parks and Downtown Disney and were able to go back to the room each day for naps and some downtime. The beds are really comfortable, and the air conditioning was really efficient. Our favorite part was the TV channel options are special and specific to Disney Hotels, so we had access to the "Bedtime Storeis" channel. This is was our son wanted to watch when we were in the room. It's calming, sweet, and helped our little guy unwind before nap and bedtime. Due to COVID, the hotel staff is light and they are not cleaning rooms or making beds mid-day. There is also no room service and the hand-held phones have been disabled in the room. We will be coming back to this hotel next time we are visiting the parks!
The Staff is Amazing - different with Covid
I am sad that covid has changed so much for traveling. My parents used to stay here and the level of service was incredible. Now it almost feels like any other hotel. The staff was amazing, the smell of the grand was not there anymore, the robes, chocolates on your pillows, all the things that excelled the level of hotels was gone. The price is still high to stay there which I think it needs to be lowered if not offering all the extras.
Fantastic Hotel!
Fantastic hotel and was very welcoming to my Maltese. Piano music in the lobby was sooo nice
Beautiful hotel!
Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. Afternoons at the pool are perfect!
I will definitely be staying at this hotel in the future!
Loved this hotel! Everything was amazing from the service, to the food, the easy entrance to Downtown Disney. I will definitely be staying at this hotel in the future!
Great hotel
Great hotel
Absolutely adorable and in a great location!
The Disney Grand California Resort was absolutely adorable and in a great location for everything Disney. It was super easy and accommodating going into Downtown Disney and coming back in from Disney California Adventure. The atmosphere at the hotel is perfect and very welcoming.
So beautiful!
We stayed at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa and we loved it. The Hotel itself is beautiful, the entire staff are helpful and of course the convenience of its location is unbeatable. The cost is steep but for us its worth it.
Worth the cost
Amazing service! Beautiful setting and the proximity to the parks was worth every penny!
Worth the cost!
The hotel is not only a great location, but all the employees are very helpful! It was beautifully decorated for Christmas which made it even more magical. This was our families first time staying at a Disney hotel, we normally stay a good neighbor hotel, but this stay made us all feel so spoiled! Staying anywhere else after this just wont compare. It was totally worth every penny and the smiles on my families faces! I would definitely stay here again and again!
Worth the price!
The proximity to the park and convenience of the dedicated entrance into California Adventure park are fantastic! It’s so nice to be able to go back to your room during the day. The thing that really sets this hotel apart though is the staff. From check-in to check out, they are very friendly & accommodating. I have to give a special thank you to McKenzie at reception who went above & beyond even giving us Fast Passes to Radiator Springs Racers the night we checked in. It’s a splurge yes, but I really enjoyed staying there.
Can't beat the location!
Wonderful place to stay. Staff is very friendly and beds are nice. Proximity to park is great!
Pretty great hotel
Park access can’t be beat and the extra morning hour allowed us to ride our favorite rides without a long wait. Beds were super comfortable and loved the turn down service. Lobby is beautiful and the piano player there is a nice touch. The bell hops were very helpful. Took advantage of some of the free classes offered at the hotel and enjoyed those. Thought the kids pools closed too early. The maintenance and cleanliness of the hotel (especially the elevators) was not what you would expect from Disney or from a hotel at this price point. Both times we called guest services with questions the wait was longer than it should have been and the cast members that took our calls were curt and unfriendly. We have stayed at the Disneyland hotel before and had much better service and the property was better maintained. Grand California is not a good value in my mind. We will go back to the Disneyland hotel for our next stay.
Convenient location
This hotel is convenient l. But for the price I expected a little bit more. Our room wasn’t too fancy. The shower is nice. I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel before and the rooms are really nice. The Disneyland Hotel has a better pool. The staff at the Grand are nice and helpful. I recommend the Disneyland Hotel.
Beautiful Hotel!
Convenience is amazing!
Fantastic!
Great place to stay! I would definitely recommend this hotel!
Exceeded ALL Expectations!
Staying at the Grand Californian was a bucket list item for me, and it exceeded all my expectations! The magic began the moment we walked in and were greeted by a lovely cast member who started the process of our check-in, and everything was above and beyond lovely our entire stay. We would definitely recommend staying here, and hope to again someday!
BEST STAY EVER!!!
I must say, it is truly a better Disney vacation when you stay at a Disney hotel! Seeing all the characters and being so close to the park is amazing!! It is so great to get into the parks early every morning. The customer service was great. I had a little hiccup at the beginning with getting the right room, but they fixed it immediately and then surprised us with a little goody basket in the room. Above and beyond service! I will always stay here when I go to Disneyland!
Amazing
The Grand is the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The redwood theme is so homey. The immediate access to Californian Adventure is a huge benefit. There is no better place to stay while at Disney. While staying here I felt that I never left the park.
First Disney Family Vacation
This is our first Disney vacation as a family. Being from Hawaii, we don't get to come here often so I figured we'd go big and stay at a Disney Resort for the perks. We chose to stay at the Disney Grand Californian since it was the closest of the 3 resorts and right on the parks door step. While everything was magical and all cast members hospitality went above and beyond our expectations, the sight of the construction and plastic floor covers from the elevator all the way to our room kind of killed the 5 star rating for this hotel. Also knowing they have upgraded rooms, it was kind of disappointing when they put us in a non-upgraded room but its ok we were in Disney. Only the construction sighting and floor covers stopped me from giving a 5 star rating. If possible I'd like to add I would give this hotel a 4.8 star rating. My concerns never stopped me from having a great vacation. I would recomment this hotel if you are looking for location to parks. Can't get any better than the Grand Californian. I will be staying here again.
Location
This is an arts and crafts style hotel. The amenities are top notch and the decor is reminiscent of the Awahnee at Yosemite. Staying here you are paying for your very own entrance to California Adventure. The rooms are small and if you want a really relaxing chair after a long day in the park, well you will have to go down stairs and hang out in the lobby which is not a terrible option. The bunk beds are great for kids 10-4 but they gave us this option for our 14 year old and he was not too comfortable. The 9 and 8 year olds loved it. My husband and I enjoyed the Hearth Stone lounge and the little ones had a great time at Pinoccio's workshop. If you want to take a break and head back to the room for a siesta or a swim this place fits the bill.
Positive and negative
This was our first time staying in this hotel. We were there for about a week. Maybe our expectations were too high, maybe as high as the price to stay. The obvious expectation was great! Truly the most convenient place, especially with 3 children. You cannot go wrong with this hotel. The queen bed and bedding were very comfy. As well. But at the same time, with three small children the room was lacking. It was very small (1 queen with bunk beds), not enough seating for all of the people. No way to warm food in the room, and with kids, that's important, as they don't always finish their meals and I'm not about to throw food out at the price we pay for it. Not enough drawer space for 5 people. The small freezer in the room had thawed out, spoiled food from a previous guest. The trundle bed had food crumbs from who knows how many previous kids who ate in the beds. The furnishings looked dated. So, I have mixed feelings about staying here. I truly appreciated the super-convenience, but the price paid for the room you get (add on that the high price you still get charged $18/night for self-parking), in my opinion it was a disappointment. If you have the money and want the convenience and don't mind cramming 5 people into a small, ordinary, not "special", room, then it's great. But if you'd like some space, updated furnishings, seats for everyone, a microwave, then this is not worth it.
Perfect location
The Hotel is beautiful, the lobby is a site to see. The hotel staff is very professional as always. I've stayed in all three Disneyland Hotels and have enjoyed them all. My only dislike with the Grand Californian was the room size. Both the Disneyland and Paradise Pier Hotels offered and bigger room at a lower price. Sure you don't get the entry to the park that comes with the Grand Californian but all three hotels get you the early entry. My opinion is the Disneyland Hotel is the best bang for your buck.
Disney's Grand
My adult daughter and I stayed here and had a wonderful time. We loved our room with the park view, got pedicures at the spa, and had dinner at Napa Rose. We used the private entrance, which was really nice. It was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation and felt like one. I highly recommend staying at the Grand for special occasions.
