Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood

It's the "Awesomest Celebration of the Season!" Not only are you able to spend quality time with those you love most, but you can also experience some of your favorite theme parks in a whole new light. At Universal Studios Hollywood this year, they're celebrating the holidays in a BIG way. Here, you can enjoy Grinchmas, Christmas at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and so much more.

We love experiencing Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood - it makes our hearts grow three sizes those days. In face, we loved it so much that we put together a guide talking all about it! Keep reading to find out just a little bit of what you can experience during Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood: Grinchmas

On select dates this Winter, guests who visit Universal Studios Hollywood can experience Grinchmas in the Upper Lot. Based on the beloved children's book by Dr. Seuss, this celebration has something for everyone. With multiple shows, brand-new treats and Who-ville characters around every corner, it's a can't miss event.

One of our favorite events is the Wholiday Tree Lighting. This story picks up right as soon as the Grinch discovers the true meaning of Christmas, which means the entire town of Who-ville is ready to celebrate. Not only will you be able to see the Grinch, Martha May, The Mayor, Cindy Lou Who and other cherished characters, but you can also watch as the 65-foot Suessian tree lights up all of Who-ville. You can catch this nighttime spectable!

Grinchmas Character Meet and Greets

What would a trip to Who-ville be without meeting some of your favorite Who-vians? During Grinchmas, you'll be able to meet various characters like The Mayor, Cindy Lou WHo, Martha May and more throughout the day. However, both the Grinch and his trusty sidekick Maz have lines for photo opportunities. As a tip, we recommend getting in line to meet the Grinch as soon as the park opens. Since everyone wants to meet the green man himself, this line can sometimes get lengthy.

Storytime with Cindy-Lou Who

Join in on a live reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Cindy-Lou Who. Stick around after the story for meet and greet opportunities with Cindy-Lou too!

Grinchmas Treats

While you won’t be able to find roast beast available, there are still many Who-bilicious treats you can enjoy during the Grinchmas celebration. Some of our favorites include Grinch and holiday themed doughnuts, cupcakes, cookies and eggnog shakes. Plus, you can even try Who-Hash, which include tater tots covered with beef, green onions and gravy – perfect for a holiday feast!

Grinchmas Who-ville Post Office

In addition to all of the fun, you can actually send the Grinch a postcard at Who-ville Post Office promising three good deeds. Not only is this a fun activity for both children and adults, but donations from each post card will be used to support charity.

Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood Hogsmeade

The beloved Holiday Frog Choir returns, but this time, they are singing songs of the holiday season. Here, you can watch a choir of Hogwarts students, accompanied by their giant throaty frogs, sing along to their favorite Hogwarts Christmas tunes. With multiple showtimes daily, this is a show you won’t want to miss.

Wizard World of Harry Potter Seasonal Food

During Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Three Broomsticks has brought holiday cheer to their menu. Some of the seasonal items you can enjoy include an English Holiday Dinner, Cheese Toasty with Chicken and our absolute favorite, Hot Butterbeer. Of course, you can always indulge in their regular courses as well.

The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle

After a full day of witchcraft and wizardry, you won’t want to miss the nighttime show, The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle. You can see jaw-dropping projections and dazzling lights synchronized with familiar Harry Potter scores throughout the evening. This magical spectacle is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. Plus, you’ll be able to see nightly snowfall in Hogsmeade, so be sure to stick around after the show.

As a tip, we recommend going to shows around 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm showtimes for The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle – especially if its during Grinchmas. With the Wholiday Tree Lighting across the way, this area can get pretty packed. Because of this, we recommend eating dinner after the Wholiday Tree Lighting and then watch one of the later showings of The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle. You’ll avoid the crowds and be able to still enjoy the shows!
