Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Radiance Class

With more than 30 ships in use or announced, Royal Caribbean Cruises makes sure all your vacation dreams come alive onboard.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line offers these distinct ship classes including:

In this article we’re taking a closer look at Radiance Class and highlighting the ships that made Royal Caribbean what it is today:

  • Brilliance of the Seas
  • Jewel of the Seas
  • Radiance of the Seas
  • Serenade of the Seas

The Radiance Class is one of the most unique in the Royal Caribbean Cruise fleet because it brings you back to the classic elements of cruising with smaller ships that can take you almost anywhere to traditional, central areas making the ship feel more like a home away from home.

Don’t let its “smaller” size fool you—the ships in this class still hold 2,500 guests and more when you include the crew. And there’s no shortage of things to do and experience! Especially when it comes to getting to ports the massive ships can’t get close to—including passing through the Panama Canal.

Radiance Class – Rooms

When booking a cruise on a Radiance Class ship, be ready for clean, crisp interiors with a wide array of amenities for your whole family to enjoy.

All room types offer plenty of storage, with large closets and plenty of drawer space in the desk, bathroom and side tables. The bathrooms are spacious as well, with enough room for a shower, toilet and sink with moderate counter space. The room types also included the typical offerings such as a flat screen TV, plenty of US plugs and a hairdryer.

There are also a number of suites on the Radiance Class including Owner's Suites, Royal Suites, Grand Suites and Ultimate Family Suite with an in-room slide from the second floor (Spectrum of the Seas).

  • Interior sleeps 1-4, a great deal for solo travelers, up to 258 square feet
  • Ocean View sleeps up to 6, up to 276 square feet
  • Balcony are the most popular choice, sleeps up to 5 with up to 271 square feet
  • Suites sleep up to 8, choose from Junior Suite, Owner’s Suite (1 or 2 bedroom) or the Royal Suite with nearly 1,000 square feet of living space

Radiance Class – Kids Activities

Speaking of slides and all things kids love—Royal Caribbean’ Radiance Class knows how to host kids of all ages.

Adventure Ocean® hosts multiple programs for babies (6 to 36 months old) to kids (12 years old). This new program allows kids to choose their own immersive adventure.

There’s plenty of whimsical rooms to roam and climbable creations to explore at Play Place. Interactive tinker time at Workshop. Friendly competition at Arena. Spaces to call their own at Hangout.

Plus dedicated programs that will engage all the senses for babies and younger kids at AO Babies and AO Junior.

Beyond Adventure Ocean, there’s plenty of places and entertainment to explore as a family on board.

Radiance Class – Amenities

Amenities are another reason our team loves cruising with Royal Caribbean. Onboard Radiance Class, Royal Caribbean brings the outdoors in, which is truly what it’s all about.

You’ll score breathtaking views of natural beauty from every angle. There are glass walls and panels to take in the sights all over the ships. There is even a retractable glass roof that adjusts to the weather and destination. You can even stand on the ship’s helipad which is available to guests for incredible views.

Radiance Class ships boast these amazing activities and so much more:

  • Rock Climbing Wall
  • Solarium, adults-only indoor and outdoor retreat
  • Mystery Dinner Theater
  • Spa and Fitness Center
  • Live Music
  • Original Productions like Piano Man on Radiance of the Seas

Radiance Class – Dining

We certainly can’t leave without mentioning the food! For casual dining like breakfast and lunch, you can choose from a few options. The most popular, with the longest hours for both lunch and dinner, is the Windjammer Café. You can always count on the Windjammer Café to have something delicious, since it offers a huge buffet.

There is a huge variety of dining options, along with more bars and grills so whether you’re looking for pizza, a hot dog, fresh-rolled sushi or Italian cuisine, you’ve got it right here on board.

One thing we enjoy is that the server and assistant server stay the same for the entire cruise during main dining, which gives you plenty of opportunity to get to know them. They’ll also learn your preferences and are always available to suggest delicious meal options.

If you want to try something new, or celebrate a special event, there is specialty dining available for an additional cost like Chef’s Table, the most exclusive dining experience aboard.

Radiance Class – Itineraries & Wrap-Up

The best part about any cruise has to be the itinerary! Radiance Class sails to destinations like:

  • Alaska with port destinations you won’t find on other ships
  • Bahamas
  • Caribbean
  • Pacific Coast
  • Panama Canal

Wherever you want to go, chances are Royal Caribbean can take you there! We highly recommend planning your cruise as far in advance as you can, since the best cruise rates – and cabin availability – are found early. You may find a few last-minute deals, but the savings are often negated by how high the airfare costs to leave so soon.

For help planning a cruise on a Radiance Class ship, or any of the wonderful Royal Caribbean Cruise ships, let our team of cruise experts help. Our staff has experienced nearly all of the ships, giving them first-hand experience to help you have the best cruise vacation.
