Weber Partner Award
Get Away Today owners Chuck and Julie Smith have a long-standing commitment to their local community. From the start, Chuck and Julie have always placed an emphasis on giving back to those who helped build their company’s success. They created Get Away Today’s Vacations = Donations program as a way to give a portion of vacation packages back to local schools which, to date, has donated over $4.3 million to help children. For ten years Chuck served on the Weber School Foundation board, and he wrote a children’s book that he donated to schools in which he held readings. Get Away Today also partners with credit unions to donate to Children’s Miracle Networks Hospitals and they serve as sponsors for both Christmas Tree Jubilee and Gifts from the Heart Golf Classic. These are only some of the programs that focus on enriching communities and showing appreciation for the local and far reaching support Get Away Today receives as a business.
The Smith’s daughter, Jen Dunyon, now serves as a board member for Weber School District and as Executive Vice President of Get Away Today. Jen carries on the tradition of service Chuck and Julie started thirty years ago. As a result of Get Away Today’s commitment to education and community, Weber School District and Weber School Foundation presents them with the Community Partner of the Year award. This honor is the community’s way of saying thank you to a business that is continually developing partnerships with schools and enriching education opportunities through its service.
